Doug Loge
Ger., 2nd Panzer
My name is Doug Loge and I would like to announce my intention to run as Axis Representative. My experience is as follows; 4 years membership in the HRS and 2nd panzer Division , 25+ reenacted events, B.A. in Communication, Illinois state history teaching certification and honorable service in the US Army as an infantryman. As the Axis Representative, I will listen to Axis unit concerns and take appropriate action when warranted. I see the biggest problems in the Axis camps are safety and authenticity. Often problems come not only from the HRS Axis units, but from other reenacting organizations that participate in HRS sponsored events. I have seen inspections of other reenacting organization soldiers who had to keep their helmets on so their long hair would not fall out. These safety and authenticity violations will be prevented from occurring at HRS events. I hope for your vote and full support as Axis Representative |

| Scott Atchison
Ger., 6th SS
Scott Atchison is a great choice for Axis Representative and appreciates your support. Scott has been reenacting for 11 years and is totally committed to the German impression. Here in the HRS, Scott chartered and started the 6th SS Nord and continues to lead the unit through this exciting period of growth, and has personally provided the group with it's very authentic period truck. His focus on safety and authenticity are evident in the unit today, and we are proud to sponsor reenacting as a highly rewarding and educational hobby. Also, Scott is a firm believer in preserving the integrity of our hobby.
Nord takes pride in their esprit de corps, and a great deal of that is fostered from Scott's ideal that everyone should be involved in the decision making process in the unit. Every member of the 6th SS has had an equal say in unit policies since the day he founded the unit, and it is a pleasure to deal with him as a leader.
Scott is a dedicated family man, and has been a railway engineer in north central Indiana for a number of years. From that location, Scott is often seen at numerous events in Michigan , the far corners of Ohio, Illinois, and throughout Indiana. He loves to participate in events and seems to know many reenactors everywhere he goes. We know he would approach the Axis Representative position with the same inclusiveness with which he founded the 6th SS. Again, Scott would appreciate your support now and after the Axis Representative position is filled. |

Two rumors have been circulated regarding the HRS. I want to end them now.
Insurance
Rumor 1: The HRS insurance policy ends on January 31st, 2007 and after that date we are without insurance for events.
Truth: The current insurance policy has been extended through February while our Treasurer, an insurance broker, locates a better policy. The current policy is, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, inadequate and leaves the society exposed. The new policy will remedy these problems. As a general observation, it has become increasingly difficult to find any insurance company that is willing to cover our type of organization. I know there is one new re-enacting society forming in the mid-west that has adopted the policy that members must carry their own insurance. The HRS will not be following this example.
To cover the increasing insurance costs, the HRS is adopting a policy where members receive a discount and non-members pay full price to attend an HRS sponsored event. We are no longer going to subsidize anyone who is not an HRS member.
Registered Agent
Rumor 2: The board has not appointed a new registered agent and the role continues to be held by Ken Thompson.
Truth: The Board of Directors asked for a volunteer living in Illinois. No candidate came forward who was acceptable to all members. Consequently, the Board appointed Jonathan Stevens as the registered agent on Sunday. The registered agent is responsible for receiving correspondence from the state of Illinois. The paperwork is in the process of being submitted to the State.
Conclusion:
If you really want to know what is happening in the HRS, please direct any questions you have to the President or any other member of the board. Since we are representatives of the HRS, we are the best source of information. Please do not rely on the rumor mill for information regarding important HRS issues.
We'll always give you an answer, not always one you want to hear, but an answer.

I have just found out that some HRS website requests that were sent to me have been going into the spam section of my e-mail. If you have submitted an e-mail about the HRS site, and an unusual amount of time has passed and nothing has been done with your request, please re-send it and I will update the site. I am sorry that this error has occurred.
